Are there alternative measures for the additional 20% (a portion of the 60%)? That is, could a portion of the 60% be subjective measures such as student surveys, parent surveys, etc. What are the hazards of the various rubrics?

The new APPR is going to be only for classroom teachers- ELA, math and common branch subjects.
As a negotiations committee: Classroom teachers will be those defined as only those that are state assessed. Or do we want to call them tenure areas? If they don’t fall under those criteria they use the old assessment---- We as a group can decide what a classroom teacher is.

TIP: Bryan- keep everything as it is in our current contract.
NYSUT rubric has a system that goes along with the rubric that seems more comprehensive. Utilize the rubric to weight more in certain categories more than others.
SUGGESTION- Pre- and post- observation meetings must occur OR the observation is null and void. In this place, teachers will have the opportunity to advocate for themselves; therefore, providing evidence that their teaching is highly effective.
As the 20% of the rubric is negotiable: teachers need to have choice for the 20%. 40% can be the adopted rubric. Selected from the state approved list of course.
